Rebelmatic Unleashes Raw Energy in the Newest Release from DCxPC

Rebelmatic, the hardcore powerhouse from New York City, has dropped an explosive surprise on us with their latest limited edition live album courtesy our friends at DCxPC and Shiny Dome Records. Limited to just 200 copies, this album is a visceral experience that captures not just the essence of Rebelmatic's hardcore prowess, but also the infectious joy of their live show.

Expect the unexpected as we’re transported back to when Rebelmatic brought their A-game to Fuzz Fest WV 2023, a melting pot of metal, punk, rock, stoner, hardcore, and indie sounds. Led by Creature aka Creech, Rebelmatic proves they're not just another hardcore juggernaut plowing through a set, occasionally spouting unity rhetoric. The album is a rollercoaster of unpredictable energy, blending hardcore angst with unabashed joy. The charismatic Creetch engages the audience with call-and-response, chants, and impromptu sing-alongs, turning this live recording into an  entrancing interactive event.

The band roots itself in New York Hardcore, echoing the vibes of Quickness era Bad Brains colliding with the spirit of Suicidal Tendencies. Yet, Rebelmatic adds nuance to their sound, drawing comparisons to contemporary acts like Fucked Up and Turnstile while infusing unexpected elements like the occasional Iron Maiden guitar riff and, especially on this record, deeper references to funk and go-go. The lyrics, exemplified in tracks like "Blood and Gold" and "Get it Off," showcase Rebelmatic's ability to balance intensity with introspection.

Rebelmatic's strength lies not just in their diverse influences but in their ability to defy stereotypes. Rebelmatic transcends expectations by infusing their hardcore with joy, unity, and a call for change. Tracks like "Born to Win" deliver messages that challenge stereotypes, urging listeners to overcome misogyny and supremacy and building an opportunity for all of us to be born to win. And that coming together is delightfully acted out again and again on this live album.

The live album format, often a tricky endeavor, proves to be Rebelmatic's playground. Recorded live at Fuzz Fest 23 in Morgantown, WV, the energy, stage banter, and songs combine to create a live album that goes beyond expectations. The band's connection with the audience is palpable, turning each track into an experience rather than just a song.

Already a powerhouse in the genre, Rebelmatic continues to evolve, one can't help but look forward to how they'll redefine hardcore from the inside. If they can continue to capture this fusion of angst and joy amidst desire to inspire change positions Rebelmatic as a band ready to shape the future of hardcore.
