Capital Radio Day, the Olympia, Washington punk rock block takeover, is about to hit it’s third year. We’ve been growing it into something epic and special and worth looking forward to. As we hit the announcements of the bands playing the 2026 instance, of course we’re hit with memories of previous Capital Radio Days- the slam dancing, the smiles, the hugs, the chants, the fists in the air, and the bands….hot damn, the bands. This year isn’t going to be any exception…we’re putting together a day that’s going to be bigger, badder, and more epic than before.
Just like last year, we’re working with Volume Bomb Records in Portland to help handle logistics. And we’re extremely excited to work with our friends at Grit City Punk out of Tacoma, Washington to help announce.
Hopefully by now you’ve had a chance to listen to the Podcast and have heard the first wave of bands to be announced…and if so, we’re sure you’re as stoked as we are. If not, well, here’s a brief rundown of the first 10 bands:
Fermented Soul (Oly) Let’s start with some young locals. Coming out of the Olympia’s legendary all ages scene, Fermented Soul bring the dream of the 90’s in the PNW into 2026 with fire and angst. They bring to mind bands like Superheaven, Return to Dust, and Teenage Wrist…a little grungegaze and a little heavy riff magic with a big punk rock middle finger extended to the heavens.

Of Wires (PDX) Of Wires are High energy heavy fire. They put on a captivating live show with tight, gritty songs that are rife with intense, punk-infused, modern noise. Fans of Metz , True Widow, and Am Rep bands will love Of Wires.
Aron Gubbe & the Zips Oh man…Aron Gubbe & the Zips are…fantastic. It’s rare that bands appear that are like everything and like nothing. Indie Rock, punk rock, hip hop, dance punk…man, Aron Gubbe & the Zips are the basement show soundtrack that you always wished for and you are lucky enough to get.
Eep Oop (SEA) There’s a lot of pop punk in the PNW. A lot of it is very good. Bands that really make a night out an ass-shakin delight. Bands that make the crowd grin ear to ear while pogo-ing their way to serotonin filled bliss. Eep Oop are no exception. It’s like le Tigre had drinks with Screaming Weasel. If you miss their set, you will be CRUSHED.

One Drink & Other Lies (PDX) One Drink & Other Lies are drunken back alley sex next to the dumpster. Thanks Tequila. IYKYK. If you don’t…get you some.
Spacer (Oly) Olympia, Washington’s Spacer are extremely aptly named. They are what an astronaut should have in their headphones while training for a mission to Mars. Driving, punk inspired alt-rock that reminds us where we’re from and why we do it, but shoegaze enough to keep us looking to the stars.
Deluto (Oly) Oly’s Deluto are…formidable. They have the brains to not take it too seriously, and the guts to leave it all out there. One part Dead Kennedys, one part Downtown Boys, and a little bit of MCR goes a whole long way and Deluto takes it all the way there. And for Olympians, Deluto is a bit of a supergroup combining members of Capital Radio Day alumni Storm Boy, Dead Pets, and Human Vacuum.

Casi (Spanaway, WA) Every band likes to say that they’re the soundtrack to the party- and usually they are. What’s not always clear is what kind of party it is. Look…Casi is the soundtrack to EVERY party. You’re going to be moving and shaking without even knowing it. You’re going to be screaming and dancing and not realizing your throat is hoarse. You’re going to be trying to rip your shirt off and spinning it around the air above your head with sweat streaming from every single pore and you’re going to love it. Like if Death Grips were a comedy instead of a tragedy.
BRUTE! (Oly/SEA) Brute! Are Olympia treasures. Formerly known as Manic Pixie Dreamboat, Brute! Have been lighting the cigarettes dangling from alt-punk/indie rock mouths up and down the coast for a few years now. They make loose and jammy feel tight and planned, but never lacking in energy and passion…this is going to sound weird, but you have to trust me here…they’re like if Tom Waits wrote Over the Edge by the Wipers. Fans of French Tips and Dry Ice are gonna LOVE this band and really, so will everyone else. BRUTE! may be expanding above and beyond Thurston County, but they’ll always belong to Olympia.

Dead Bars (SEA) You know Dead Bars. You love Dead Bars. You know all the words to all of Dead Bars songs. You raise your first, you grab whoever’s next to you in the pit around the neck. You spin around together both screamin those words at the top of your lungs, heads back, eyes closed. You need Dead Bars.
Presale Tickets are still available for Capital Radio Day 2026. You can pick those up here.
