You know that house that always had something going on in the basement? The best shows, hangs, and conversations in town? There was always someone there and somehow a reason to be there. We'd trade mixtapes, jam, watch bands, probably get high, and maybe even meet someone we wanted to get closer with. For me it was Jesse's Basement and that's the feeling I'm trying to capture.  

Jesse's Basement is an online music blog that focuses on underground music, particularly punk rock and hardcore. We feature reviews of new releases, as well as new reviews of classic releases, music news, and a scene report with guest contributors sharing news about the music scene in their town. Our ongoing columns include a monthly mixtape called "My Sister's Mix Tape," sex advice from the infamous Nile Demses called "Bad Sex," and so much more to come.

Our goal to celebrate the little messes that bring joy and shape our lives- to reignite what made us love the music, the lifestyle, the interactions, and all the other things that made the basement and DIY space shows the place to be.

We build on that feeling and emphasize the DIY approach and aim to create a supportive and inclusive community for us all.
